Draft for a lawyer’s review. This page describes what the product does today, in plain words. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before it becomes the final text.

Every ad on a Freebee Ads screen is seen by families in a public place, on a screen that belongs to a mall. This page says what we refuse, what our team checks before an ad plays, and how to appeal a refusal. It applies to video and image ads and to game ads (the wall games with prizes). The mall's own rules apply on top of ours; where they are stricter, they win.

What we refuse

We refuse an ad, or stop one that is playing, if it contains any of the following:

  • A real person's likeness without rights. Actors, cricketers, film stars, influencers, politicians, members of the public: anyone recognisable must have agreed to appear in your ad. We may ask to see the release.
  • Alcohol, tobacco, or products that stand in for them. No alcohol, beer, liquor, cigarettes, bidis, gutka, pan masala, vaping or hookah products, and no "surrogate" ads for the same brand names on other products. (Indian law restricts or bans these; Telangana rules apply to alcohol.)
  • Gambling, betting and lotteries, including fantasy sports played for money and apps that pay out cash. A free game on our wall with a coupon prize is fine; an ad for paid betting is not.
  • Misleading claims. Prices, discounts, "free", "guaranteed", "number 1" and health, medical or financial claims must be true and provable. No fake urgency, no hidden conditions, no medical cures. (Consumer Protection Act 2019 and the ASCI Code are our reference.)
  • Political and religious content. No ads for parties, candidates, campaigns or political causes, and nothing that mocks, attacks or promotes a religion, caste, community or region.
  • Adult or shocking content. No nudity, sexual content, violence, gore, weapons, or anything unsuitable for children, who are always in the mall.
  • Unsafe or unclear prize mechanics. A game ad must say exactly what can be won, who can win, how many prizes there are, and until when the coupon is valid. No prizes that need a payment, a purchase, a phone number given to the advertiser, or a chance of losing money. No prizes of alcohol, tobacco, or anything a child could not receive.
  • Illegal or harmful products and services: drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods, get-rich-quick schemes, unregulated loans, or anything whose sale is illegal in Telangana.
  • Hateful or abusive language, in any language, including in the names, slogans or on-screen text of a game.
  • Content that does not play properly: the wrong orientation for the screen, unreadable text, flashing that could trigger seizures, or files that fail our upload checks.

Game ads and prizes

Our wall games are free to play and are meant to be fun for anyone in the mall. For a game ad we also check:

  • The prizes are real, in stock, and will be honoured at your counter to anyone who shows a valid coupon.
  • The prize terms on the screen and on the coupon match: what it is, which shop, and the expiry (coupons expire 30 days after they are won, and a win must be claimed within 48 hours).
  • The chance of winning is as the game shows it. Our game engine draws prizes on the server using the prize bands you set; you cannot change the odds after approval without a new review.
  • Nothing in the game asks the shopper for personal details. A shopper saves a coupon to their own phone with us, never with you, and you never receive their number.
  • Names shoppers type are shown on the wall through an automatic filter. Your brand name, headline and slogan must pass the same standard.

What our team checks

Before an ad plays, one of our reviewers:

  1. Runs the automatic checks: file type, size, length, orientation, and for games, that every image the game needs is present.
  2. Watches the ad or play-tests the game on the real engine, at the size it will play.
  3. Ticks three checks that are recorded with the approval: no real person's likeness without rights; prize terms are clear and legal; it fits the mall's content rules.
  4. Notes the mall's sign-off reference where the mall asks to see ads in a category before they play.
  5. Approves it, or refuses it with a reason you can read word for word on your Creatives page.

We aim to do this within one working day. An approved ad that is replaced or whose game settings are edited goes back to step 1.

How to appeal

If your ad was refused and you think the reason is wrong, or you have fixed the problem:

  1. Fix the creative and upload it again. A new upload starts a new review; the earlier reason stays visible to you for reference.
  2. If you believe the refusal itself is a mistake, email hello@freebeeads.com with the subject "Appeal", the creative's name, and why you think it complies. Attach any rights release or proof of claim.
  3. A different team member reviews the appeal and replies within two working days. If the mall's rules were the reason, we pass on what the mall said.

Refusals for alcohol, tobacco, gambling, political and adult content are not appealable; those categories do not play on our screens.

Changes

We may add to this list as the law, the ASCI Code, or a mall's rules change. Ads already approved keep playing for their booked dates unless the content has become illegal or the mall withdraws its consent, in which case the unplayed dates are credited under the Terms.
