Camera notice
Last updated 24 October 2026
Draft for a lawyer’s review. This page describes what the product does today, in plain words. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before it becomes the final text.
This is the text that goes on the sign next to every screen that has a camera. It is short on purpose: a shopper should be able to read it in a few seconds while walking. Print it in all three languages on one sign, with the full Privacy notice address and a QR code to it. The Telugu and Hindi versions are drafts and must be checked by a native speaker before printing.
English
This screen counts, it does not record.
The camera next to this screen counts how many people pass by, how many look at the screen, and for how long. It also estimates age group and gender as totals, never per person.
It does not record or store video or photos, and it cannot identify you. Nothing about you is kept.

Where the sign goes
- At eye level on the screen's frame or on a stand within one metre of the camera, on the side people approach from.
- Minimum size A5; the bold first line at least 14 mm high so it can be read from two metres.
- One sign per camera. A screen without a camera needs no sign.
- Keep a photo of each installed sign with the screen's label in the ops Screens page notes, so we can show the mall where the notices are.
Why this is enough
The camera processes frames in the device's memory and sends only totals (counts, attention time, age and gender totals). No image, face template or identifier leaves the device or is stored, so no personal data about a passer-by is collected. The sign is there so people know what the camera is and what it does, in keeping with the DPDP Act's principle of notice, and so they can ask us about it.
